Kathy Kingston

KATHY KINGSTON is a Rochester native and was raised in the Roman Catholic Church. When she married Hank in 1966 it was at St. Paul's but it wasn't until 1974, while living outside Chicago, that she was received into the Episcopal Church. While in Chicago she and Hank both became very involved in Episcopal Marriage Encounter and Cursillo as well as in the life of their own parish - St. Mark's, Glen Ellyn.

Kathy and Hank have two children and five grandchildren all living in the Rochester area.

Being a grandmother is one of the most important parts of her life right now. Kathy attended Harper College (now SUNY Binghamton) and Empire State College. She was a stay-at-home Mom until 1989 when she began working as a tax preparer. She spent fifteen years preparing taxes and was certified as an Enrolled Agent with the IRS. She retired in 2005 when her husband retired from Xerox but continues to prepare taxes as a volunteer Tax Aide for AARP.

Kathy has been a member of St. Paul's for three years. She and Hank regularly attend the 8 o'clock service. They have been coordinators of the RAIHN Program at St. Paul's for the last two years and last year were co-chairs of the Old Curiosity Shop for the Antique Show. Kathy also serves on the Altar Guild, as a LEM and on the New Member Ministry Commission. She is currently in training to become a Stephen Minister.

Kathy is honored to have been asked to run for Vestry and looks forward to continuing to serve St. Paul's in whatever way she can.

Ed Rubel

ED RUBEL is a lifelong Rochester resident. He grew up attending Christ Church, Pittsford where he was baptized and confirmed. In 1965, he and Julie were married there and later their two sons, Scott and Jeff were baptized in Pittsford. In 1973, the family moved to St. Paul's and they continued their Episcopalian traditions. The boys were confirmed at St. Paul's.

After his graduation from Wesleyan University, he and his brother took over their father's manufacturing business which he is now in the process of selling. Ed was in the Army reserves, was Master of his Masonic Lodge, and spent many years in Boy Scouts with his sons. The boys have moved on, Scott is a senior physicist with Freescale in Austin, Texas, and Jeff is Chief of Nephrology in Beverly, Mass., and father of two "grand girls."

Primarily eight o'clockers, Julie is a greeter and LEM, and Ed is a Lector. Ed has served as Chair of the Stewardship, Scholarship and Mission I Committees, and also sits on the HR Committee.

The experience of sitting on these committees has convinced him of the importance of being good stewards of the treasures of St. Paul's. Through their stewardship, these committees, and all of the St. Paul's family has been able to do a great deal of good for many in the community, the diocese and the world.

He is honored to have been asked, would be proud to serve, and would try to apply his life experiences while serving on the Vestry.
