Adult Faith formation

Sunday mornings

at 9:00 A.M.

We offer various programs each of which support at least one of our key formation areas. The programs vary in length and content. This format allows those with different needs or interests to choose the programs work for them.

Past offerings have been: Episcopalian 101, Parables, the Church after the Disciples, the Cosmic Christ, Saints (ancient and modern), and more.

Education For ministry

Education for Ministry (EfM), is a distance-learning program from the University of the South, is one of the best programs in the Episcopal Church for adult lay members to learn to think theologically. It is a four-year course of study consisting of weekly seminars over the nine month academic year. Each seminar group is made up of 6 to 12 people. EfM meets at St. Paul’s on Thursday evenings from September to June and tuition is $375, scholarships available.

Faith in the World

Each year, St. Paul’s partners with the Diocese of Rochester to offer a learning opportunity with a
contemporary theologian. The speaker presents some combination of sermons, lectures, and workshops over the course of a weekend in November. The 2019 speaker is The Rev. Canon Scott Gunn, Executive Director of Forward Movement.

Dessert and Discussion

On four Monday evenings throughout the program year, a 45-minute presentation is offered on topics
of interest to the congregation. Topics have included: Episcopal Church history, theology, Celtic

Other Opportunities
